I write often about supporting your local shelter, volunteers and staff. For Thanksgiving I made sure our local shelter staff/volunteers were not alone cleaning cages. (it happens more than you think) I was a non-kill Shelter Director the physical and mental demands can be horrific. Two-Three days a week I had 128 cat & dog cages with One of me. If I was luckily I had 3-4hrs before the shelter opened.  Keep in mind medications (de-wormers ect..), QT procedure and emergency issues needed to be addressed before opening, with me alone thinking, ‘Someone HELP I need an adult! Hell most days I would have cried in joy for physically handicapped Alzheimer help.’

I was able to become a OnePerson-CatPillPopping Kung-rescue Master. I worked seven days a week. Holidays!? Animals needs don’t stop eating or pooping for holidays. Some shelter dogs/cats only get out once a day while their cages are…
